TLDR: (The funniest part about this is that I wanted to find 5, but really was only able to find 3. We need to work on this folks!)

How can you tell the extroverted accountant?

She’s staring at the other person’s shoes!

This is my favourite joke, but if you’re tired of hearing people say accounting is boring here are a few fun facts that arguably will make you seem like even more of a nerd than people already think you are!

1. Accounting: The OG Profession

Accounting is ancient—like, really ancient. It’s been around for over 7,000 years, starting with some clever folks in Mesopotamia scribbling on clay tablets to keep track of their goats.

2. The Father of Accounting Was BFFs with Da Vinci

Luca Pacioli, the guy who invented double-entry bookkeeping, was tight with none other than Leonardo da Vinci. Yep, the dude who painted the Mona Lisa was buddies with an accountant.

3. There’s a World Record for Longest Accounting Career

Believe it or not, there’s a Guinness World Record for the longest career as a chartered accountant. A Scottish legend, John J. McClelland, worked in accounting for a whopping 70 years!
